Artist: Ekalos Reed

Why does this program have a geographic focus?

While artists on both coasts benefit from vibrant communities and opportunities, artists in the western/southwestern region of the United States are often overlooked, spread out physically and do not have as many opportunities or sources of funding. This program is designed specifically to create resonance and community amongst high desert artists.

What artistic mediums is this for?

At this time, the dots between fellowship is open to practitioners of any type of artistic discipline. The 2021 program content and structure will most easily and readily apply to visual and performing artists.

Who this will benefit the most?

The dots between is primarily for BIPOC artists and has been designed to be financially accessible—there are no application fees or participation fees. We meet online for 3 hours per month , 2 of which can be decided based on your schedule.

What is the acceptance process?

The Advisory Committee is looking for individuals who are committed to advancing their art careers at whatever stage they are in and are eager to learn about financial strategies and best practices. The make up of the group will be an important part of the selection process- we are looking for people at different career stages whose knowledge base can support one another.

Do I need to have a basis in financial understanding?

No, this program is designed to address your individual financial questions and make an individual plan that aligns with your values and desires. Some of the financial questions addressed by previous fellows include: building credit, buying vs renting, retirement accounts, and business structures.
